First Fridays Fort Wayne welcomes Dr. Michael Moffitt, former NFL player and Special Assistant to the IWU President.
About this Event
Every April we feature a speaker from Indiana Wesleyan University who graciously partners with our First Fridays events. We are honored to have Dr. Michael Moffitt who will share his leadership journey and insights.
Dr. Michael Moffitt, Special Assistant to the President for Corporate & Community Relations, Indiana Wesleyan University has spent the last 24 years in Christian Higher Education focused on developing the next generation of leaders. Over the past 19 years, He has served at Indiana Wesleyan University in a number of roles. In the first six years he served in the capacity of Dean for Mentoring & Accountability where he created a campus-wide peer-to-peer mentoring program. He also served as the chief judicial officer. He then served the following seven years on the President’s cabinet as Vice President for Student Development. His oversight in that area included Residence life, Intercultural Student Services, The Center for Student Success, Counseling, Disabilities Services, Campus Police, Student Activities, Student Conduct and the Mentoring Program.
Michael currently serves in the President’s office as Special Assistant to the President for Corporate & Foundation Relations. Building strategic alliances in the business industry by providing opportunities for collaborative research initiatives and corporate engagement helps to create an environment that further enhances the University’s mission of equipping students in scholarship, character & leadership.
In an effort to pay it forward, Michael challenges every leader to live life with their head on a swivel, always looking for opportunities to help others succeed.
Michael has been married to his first wife Latrese for 28 years. They have two adult children Michael Jr., 25 and Janae’ 22.
This may be one of most athletic families in Indiana. Michael played football in the NFL, Latrese was an Olympic high jumper, and Michael Jr. and Janae’ were standout college high jumpers (both holding records).
